Y7 End of Year exams
Dear all
It's that time again.
The end of year exams are here: Wednesday 24th June, lessons 4&5
It will be a CALCULATOR paper. You must make sure you have a Scientific Calculator before the exam, so you know what the keys are for and how to use it. If you don't have a calculator in the exam, you will have to do your working out in your head and on paper. Equipment will not be provided for the exam.
In the meantime, may I suggest that you practice exam papers and questions around you level and higher, so that when you sit down for the exam you feel well prepared. You can find papers online (see link below to emaths.co.uk).
http://www.emaths.co.uk/index.php?option=com_zoo&view=category&layout=category&Itemid=505
The papers available will be: L2-3; L3-4; L4-6 & L5-7.
If you were a 4C in the mid-year exam, I have entered you for a L3-4, as that would still be a progress of 2 sublevels to the maximum grade of 4a. However, if you reach the top Level of any paper, you can if you wish sit the next higher paper.
If you were a 4b or 4a, I have entered you for a L4-6 paper, so that you will have sufficient time to answer higher level questions.
If you were a 5c or 5b, I have entered you for a L4-6, as his would still allow 5 to 6 sublevels of progress.
However, if you were a 5a or above, I have entered you for a L5-L7 paper. This is so that you don't have to answer so many question to reach you previous level, and you will have lots of time to investigate and answer the higher level questions.
If you have any worries about which paper you will sit, please feel free to see me Break 2, Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays.
Before the exam starts I will ask you to write down your fears, worries and anxieties about the exam. Then we will throw the paper in the bin with your worries. Studies have shown that this reduces anxiety and helps with the recall of facts and methods and allows ideas to flow.
Remember, it is just a snapshot of your attainment, we take into account your hard work during the year if you come out with a lower level that expected.
At present I don't have the exam dates, but as soon as I do, I will let you know. The dates will available in the Newsletter on Friday 22nd May.

This is a photo of my neighbours’ roof tiles on their house.
Each
square section of the tiles looks like chocolate bars and it is all even in
each row and it’s in line with each other, it’s all just neat and it stays in
one line and it is not separate.

Sadaf I chose this because it stood out, but not only that, because it also reminded of patterns, also it looks a bit like Victor Vasarely's work. |
Will I found this interesting as it is a repeating pattern found in my house, also the shadows give it a good effect. |
